Teen (BBYO)

BBYO is a teen-led group dedicated to brother- and sister-hood. All BBYO programs are teen designed and operated. Participants develop crucial leadership skills, growing from both successes and setbacks.

I serve as BBYO advisor and mentor. I also provide emotional support, leading weekly check-ins at BBYO meetings (good & welfare).

Teens take an active role in planning synagogue-wide events such as the Teen Social Action: Thanksgiving Cooking. They also ensure the sustainability of their chapter through outreach with the seventh graders.

Sample programs include:

  • Weekly meetings alternating between board meetings and chapter programming
  • Youth conventions
  • Dances
  • Bi-monthly activities based on programmatic “folds:” athletics, community service/social action, education, social bonding, creativity, Jewish heritage, brotherhood/sisterhood, and mental health
