I love how preschoolers are full of wonder and an insatiable thirst for knowledge! As supervisor for all matters pertaining to Jewish education for the preschool, I teach “Judaism 101” for preschoolers and their parents. I visit all preschool classes multiple times per week and lead Shabbat assemblies, instilling these first tastes of the aleph bet, Jewish narratives, Shabbat, and holidays with song, joy, and (of course) a sense of humor.

PJ Shabbat
Once a month, we “dress up” in our PJ’s, sing shabbat songs, and eat the best Shabbat dinner: pizza!
Intergenerational Learning
The synagogue is rife with opportunities for intergenerational learning. As part of their exploration of the Holocaust, my seventh graders taught the importance of friendship and persistence in the face of loss to the preschoolers. By cheering students who “got out” in their reinterpretation of musical chairs, seventh graders collaborated with preschoolers to learn how to cope with loss (this wasn’t always easy).
